Quick Start Guide
Getting started with your Absaar Micro Inverter is easy. Follow these steps for a smooth installation:
- Scan the QR Code: You’ll find a QR code on the inverter packaging. Scan it to access the full manual.
- Record Your Inverter Details: Note down the serial number and the verification code (VC). This code is essential for securing your inverter data.
- Tip: Be sure to write down the VC before installation, as it is only written on the back of the inverter and may become hard to access afterward.
- Download the AbsaarEMS App: The app is available on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
- Create Your Account: Sign up within the app to start managing your micro inverter. Please make sure to note down your user name (we recommend using your main e-mail address) for support down the line.
- Create a Plant: Set up your plant (e.g., “balcony”, “garage”). This is the location where your inverter will be installed. It is used to managed more then one inverter in a given site.
- Add Your Device: Add your inverter by scanning the QR code on the device or entering the details you noted earlier.
- Connect PV Power to the inverter: For further setup, the inverter needs to be powered on. We recommend connecting a PV panel with the inverter still easily accesible (e.g not on a roof) and the status LED visible.
- Connect one or two solar panels to the MC4 solar ports of the inverter. Make sure not to connect them crossed.
- The inverter will power up, as indicated by the status LED (please refer to the full manual).
- Once the status LED is blinking red and green slowly, the inverter is ready to connect to WiFi (it is only in “connection mode” when the LED displays this status).
- Connect to WiFi: Go to the log in page of the app and go to WiFi settings.
- Enter the name (SSID) and password of your home WiFi. Make sure to give the app location permissions on iOS/iPhone for the technology used for the connection to work.
- Please note that currently only 2,4GHz WiFi is supported.
- The WiFi connection may take a few minutes. Please also refer to the trouble shooting steps below.
- Success! Once everything is set up, you’ll be able to log in and monitor your energy production directly through the AbsaarEMS app.
Troubleshooting
If you’re experiencing issues, use these troubleshooting steps to resolve common problems.
No Status LED Light on Inverter
Problem: The inverter LED does not light up.
Solution:
- Verify that the photovoltaic (PV) panels are providing sufficient power (16-60V).
- Under 16V: The inverter will not turn on.
- Over 60V: The inverter will show an overvoltage warning in the App.
- Check the wiring of the PV panels for loose connections or other issues and ensure no cross-wiring is present.
- Test the PV panel using a multimeter if possible.
- If these steps do not resolve the issue, the inverter may need to be replaced. Please contact your dealer.
WiFi Connection Issues
Problem: WiFi connection failed, time-out, Smart Link fail or no power data displayed in the app. We are currently working with high pressure to resolve these issues as we have noted increased issues here, thank you for your patience.
Solution:
- Ensure that the WiFi signal strength is strong and the network is 2.4 GHz (Absaar Micro Inverters currently do not support 5 GHz only networks, dual band WiFi works).
- Check that the inverter’s LED status is correct:
- Breathing Red-Green (Slow): Ready to connect.
- Flashing Red-Green (Fast): System check in progress—wait for the status to change.
- Solid Green: Connected to WiFi.
- Log out and log back in the AbsaarEMS app.
OR
Wait 5 minutes for data to refresh.
OR
Completly close and reopen the app.
Additional Tips:
- If the WiFi connection fails, ensure that your phone is connected to the same WiFi network and restart the connection process.
- To check the Wifi signal strength use your phone, if it is has a good reception, the inverter should also have a good signal due to it’s external antenna.
No Data Displayed in the App
Problem: Inverter shows as connected, but no energy data is visible.
Solution:
- Log out and log back into the AbsaarEMS app.
OR
Wait 5 minutes for data to refresh.
OR
Completly close and reopen the app. - Ensure the inverter is added to your plant. If the issue persists, contact Absaar support for further assistance.
Power output is only showing 600W/0.6kWh instead of 800W
Problem: Some users report seeing only 600W of power output from their 800W Absaar Micro Inverter.
Solution:
- No Power Limit: Rest assured, all Absaar AB800A 800W inverters are shipped without any limit on power output. The inverter is capable of delivering the full 800W under optimal conditions.
- Check Solar Panel Positioning:
- Sunlight and Angle: Ensure that your solar panels are positioned at the optimal angle to capture maximum sunlight throughout the day. Even minor adjustments to the angle can significantly impact power generation.
- Shading: Look for any potential shadows cast by nearby objects (trees, buildings, etc.) during different times of the day. Shading can reduce the amount of sunlight reaching your panels, which in turn reduces power generation.
- Environmental Factors:
- Time of Year: The amount of sunlight varies depending on the season. In spring, fall and winter, shorter days and a lower sun angle can reduce the energy your panels produce.
- Temperature: High temperatures can affect the efficiency of solar panels. While solar panels need sunlight to generate electricity, excessive heat can reduce their output. This is normal behavior and is a factor to consider, especially in hotter months.
- App Display Issue:
- Rounding of Power Values: We are aware that the AbsaarEMS app may display 0.6kWh for a given hour when the actual generation is even just below 0.7kWh. This is a rounding issue in the current app version.
- Update Coming Soon: We are working on a software update to provide more detailed and accurate reporting of the power generated, with better granularity.
By optimizing your solar panel setup and awaiting the app update, you should see improvements in both power output and accuracy of the data displayed.
Difference Between Solar Panel Power and Inverter Output
Problem: Users sometimes notice that the output power from the inverter is lower than the total solar power generated by their panels.
Explanation:
- Inverter Efficiency:
- The Absaar Micro Inverter operates with a maximum efficiency of 96.7%. This means that under ideal conditions, up to 96.7% of the solar power generated by your panels is converted into usable AC electricity.
- Efficiency Losses: Efficiency values in the 90% range are also normal. This reduction in efficiency is mainly due to energy losses during the conversion of DC (direct current) from your solar panels into AC (alternating current) that can be used by your home.
- Why Does This Happen?:
- Heat: Some energy is lost as heat during the conversion process within the inverter, which is a common occurrence in all DC-to-AC conversion systems.
- WiFi Power Consumption: The WiFi router connection and communication system of the inverter also consume a small portion of the power, contributing to a slight reduction in output.
- What to Expect:
- Even with ideal sunlight conditions, the inverter will not produce 100% of the power generated by your solar panels. For example, if your panels generate 800W, the inverter might output around 774W at its peak efficiency, and slightly lower when considering minor system losses.
By understanding these efficiency factors, you can have a more realistic expectation of the difference between solar panel generation and the AC output you see in the AbsaarEMS app.
